Our Culture

At Clifford Chance we see inclusion as a core value of the firm and also of the law. To be the global law firm of choice in this area we need to be the leaders in this area, so our global strategy focusses on three pillars: In our firm, With our clients, and In the world. We believe that if you have a commitment to inclusion you must be prepared to use your skills and influence to champion, campaign and work to deliver on your values. Our goal is to deliver an equality of opportunity, an equality of aspiration and an equality of experience.
We have a number of flourishing employee networks and a mental health advocate initiative championed by senior leaders, which help to engage our colleagues in diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing.

Our employee networks

Accelerate>>>

Our global gender parity group, Accelerate>>>, is committed to taking bold actions to accelerate the pace of change towards gender parity and drive forward an inclusive and diverse culture. It's about all of us contributing to a culture where everybody has the opportunity to succeed.

REACH

The REACH Network is the firm’s network for advancing race equality and celebrating heritage. In doing so, we aim to increase understanding of the value of our cultural differences and achieve equality of opportunity for all so that at all levels, the firm will reflect the cultural and ethnic diversity of its employees.

Arcus

Arcus is Clifford Chance's global LGBT network open to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans+, Intersex, Queer and diverse people and their Allies. Arcus aims to encourage an inclusive and integrated culture within Clifford Chance that gives colleagues the choice to be open and out, with a strong belief that it is such a culture that allows everyone to develop to their maximum potential.

Enable

Supporting colleagues living with a disability or a neurodiverse condition. We raise awareness, provide guidance and highlight the support available within Clifford Chance, as well as provide a safe space to engage and network. We work with our Inclusion team to identify barriers and to drive change within the firm to ensure our colleagues can work and thrive at Clifford Chance.

Art and Diversity – FIAC

Clifford Chance has been developing a programme of support and commitment to sponsorship of the arts. Across its different offices, the Firm promotes cultural initiatives which allow Clifford Chance to support both up-and-coming and celebrated international artists. The Firm has been increasing its own collection since 1990 with works by internationally renowned artists. The pieces of art in this collection reflect the values of diversity, creativity and open-mindedness which inspire our Firm and demonstrate our capacity to propose innovative solutions to our clients.

After more than 10 years of partnership with FIAC (Foire International d'Art Contemporain), and in order to perpetuate our commitment to art, Clifford Chance is now proud to be, since 2022, a partner of Paris Photo - the first international fair dedicated to the photographic medium!

Scholarship for Diverse Students in Europe

We are excited to announce the Clifford Chance Scholarship for Diverse Students in Europe, as part of our REACH (i.e. advancing Race Equality And Celebrating Heritage) diversity and inclusion initiative across the Continental European region.

The Scholarship is specifically targeting university students with a diverse cultural or social economic background, currently in their final years of law studies in Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, graduating between 2023 and 2026, majoring in business law and interested in pursuing a career in an international law firm. While not a requirement, Clifford Chance is particularly keen to hear from applicants who are first-generation university students.

By this initiative, we wish to support talented university students with diverse cultural or social economic backgrounds to succeed in their studies and early careers. Ultimately, we aim to improve social mobility within the legal sector, to ensure that our workforce better represents the social and economic diversity across Continental Europe and to increase inclusion in our law firm and in the legal sector in general.
