Where ambitious
minds meet

London

Wherever possible, your training will reflect your interests and ambitions. You'll learn from established experts, work on high-profile deals and take real responsibility.

The structure

We've designed the training contract to give you the breadth of experience you need to emerge as a confident business adviser. Your four rotations will include seats in our core areas of Finance, Corporate and Capital Markets, plus one other.

In addition to this, there are client secondments, international secondments and split-seat opportunities along the way. This ensures you get the widest range of exposure to our business while meeting the requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). We aim to offer you the flexibility to drive your training contract forward in a way that best suits you.

From the moment you start your training contract, you'll have immense direct and indirect support.

Training and support

When you start each seat, you'll have in-depth training in that sector. This will bring you up to speed with the issues and challenges you're likely to face. You'll also have a dedicated supervisor in each seat and have regular meetings with the Graduate Development Team.

The Clifford Chance Academy, a pioneering resource which develops innovative learning tools, will also provide you with fundamental support throughout your career. Courses are taught by respected internal and external experts. There are even talks from clients to put your learning into context. You'll also have a range of other people to turn to for support throughout your training contract. The Graduate Development Team, your supervisor, the Legal Support Manager and your Monitoring Partner will all be available to act as mentors and advisers on a full range of subjects.

Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL)

We know that talented lawyers can come from any academic discipline. Following this you will then undertake the LLM Commercial Legal Practice course.

LLM Commercial Legal Practice Course (LLM CLP)

The new LLM CLP will replace the Legal Practice Course (LPC), and although it remains broadly similar, it is now a Masters qualifying course in both business and law. We cover your course fees and give you £10,000 in maintenance. Hear more about the support on offer during the six-month course.
