Where ambitious
minds meet

London Graduates

We commit to investing in you from the very start to
build the best foundation for your future.

Beyond your offer

Once you've secured your Training Contract, right up until the point you start as a trainee, we will continue to engage with you through a calendar of events and activities. By providing meaningful opportunities to return to the firm, we can help you grow your Clifford Chance network, meet your fellow peers and develop both personally and professionally.

To ensure that you have a smooth and enjoyable transition into life at the firm, we offer a comprehensive two-year buddy programme. We appreciate that your questions will be varied and may change over time which is why we will match you with a buddy who is about to start the first seat of their Training Contract, allowing you to see the lifecycle of a trainee in practice. We believe that this will provide you with a unique insight into what a career at Clifford Chance could look like for you.

Induction

We are very proud of our award-winning Trainee Induction Programme. It's an important part of our commitment to ensuring that you start life as a trainee with all the tools and techniques you need to succeed in your role. This three-day programme has been designed with essential input from key stakeholders in the firm – from the London Managing Partner, Michael Bates, to trainees who have been through the learning process themselves.

Our Induction provides a combination of essential training and interactive learning designed not only to develop key skills and working practices, but also to give you a clear idea as to how your role as a trainee fits into the London office and the wider Clifford Chance strategy. It combines practical learning, insight and skills in a safe and supportive environment before you transition into your first seat of your Training Contract.

Seat allocation

Helen Martin, one of our graduate development specialists, talks you through the process of choosing your practice area seats and the continuous support that you will receive along the way.

Career Development Meetings

Regular feedback is vital to your growth and development. There are meetings with your supervisors, monitoring partners and the Graduate Development Team built into the structure of your Training Contract to ensure that you are staying on track and receiving the support that you need along the way.

Resilience training and support

As part of our commitment to the health and wellbeing of our employees, we have developed a unique and award-winning programme. The support starts from your LLM CLP and is available to you throughout your career.

Client and international secondments

A quarter of our trainees are on secondment at any one time. To hear about some of our lawyers' international seat experiences, then take a look at our profiles. We think it is important for you to get a sense of our cross-border, collaborative culture. If you want to experience a truly global firm, join us.

Community support and pro bono

From voluntary legal advice centres to practising reading and arithmetic with children in our local schools and communities, there are several ways in which you can be involved with our well-established community support and pro bono programmes. There are also secondment opportunities that many of our trainees go on to experience.

Qualification

The qualification process can be a daunting one and it is important to us that you are aware of the support available from the outset. Conversations start early so you can start to take control of your future from the beginning of your Training Contract.

Clifford Chance Academy

At Clifford Chance, we embrace a learning culture, where individuals are supported in their pursuit of opportunities for their professional and personal development. The Clifford Chance Academy provides classroom and online training for all of our people.

Our courses help our people develop consistently excellent legal, business and commercial skills, which will assist us as a firm in meeting our goals, and be of life-long benefit to the individuals who participate in them. Courses are highly interactive and practical, delivered by expert trainers and specifically tailored to Clifford Chance.

We attach great importance to high-quality technical training for our lawyers, but our legal perspectives must be married with a sharp business focus. This depends on developing stronger understanding of clients' operating environments, so we have expanded programmes that support relationship-building, business development, management and sector focus workshops.
