Opportunities in Australia

Working at Clifford Chance offers constant exposure to top-tier domestic work together with matters from around the Asia-Pacific and the global Clifford Chance network – opportunities that few firms in Australia can offer. We help Australian and international clients make the most of business opportunities in domestic, Asia Pacific and international markets.

We formed our Australia practice to help clients make the most of domestic and regional opportunities; Australia has a mature economy, substantial natural resources and longstanding business links with Asia Pacific markets.

Our local team of more than 80 partners and lawyers are leaders in their fields. They bring decades of experience, expertise and specialist knowledge to businesses looking to expand or defend their interests in Australia and around the world.

Both our Sydney and Perth offices offers the close-knit and inclusive culture of a smaller law firm with the resources, reputation and market-leading work of a global elite law firm.

The training program

You will undertake four rotations that will include a combination of seats in our practice areas of Corporate, Antitrust, Banking & Finance and Litigation & Dispute Resolution. In addition to this, one of your seats will be an international secondment, allowing you to gain real insight into how our cross-border collaboration contributes to our success.

From the moment you start, you’ll have immense direct and indirect support. From the HR team and Partners to supervisors who have been through the process themselves – we recognise that quality training and supervision is the key to getting the most from your training period.

To be successful you will need to demonstrate your potential to become a first-class professional and your willingness to take advantage of the many opportunities that you encounter.

Benefits
In addition to a competitive graduate salary, other benefits include funding of your College of Law course tuition fees.

What we look for

You will need to exhibit ambition, drive and commitment, the ability to articulate ideas clearly, and the desire to build relationships and deliver outstanding service. We’re also looking for business awareness, a keen commercial insight and a strong ability to lead and to manage.

We are also looking for intellectual curiosity, common sense, strong interpersonal skills, an interest in business and the capacity to assimilate detailed information quickly.

These are the qualities that will determine your future with us – not your background, what you studied or where you studied it. Above all, we are looking for people who do not settle for second best in what they want to achieve and where they choose to work.

When completing your application consider how you can best demonstrate these qualities and try to provide examples from your academic life, work experience or other activities.
