Middle East

Our work

We regularly work on intra-regional and outbound transactions, and our track record shows that we have one of the strongest teams in the region.

Our partners and lawyers advise on international, regional and domestic matters under English, UAE and Saudi law. We also have Arabic-speaking lawyers for those transactions requiring Arabic language capability.

Enhancing market standards is as important to us as it is to our clients. We also play an active role in the business community, investing time in thought leadership, developing legal frameworks, creating new products and commenting on draft regulations.

Financial Services Regulatory

  • There is an exciting opportunity to join our growing team here in the Middle East focused on Fintech. With the growth of this sector, particularly in areas such as payments and crypto/digital assets, we have a strong pipeline of work. We act for regional and international financial institutions, tech firms and telcos. Major international clients we work with in this area include HSBC, Citi, Adyen, FIS (Worldpay), FTX, Kraken, Uber/Careem.
  • We are designing payments businesses/platforms, helping crypto exchanges grow, working on financial super apps, working on M&A in the sector and a broad range of advisory and transactional work. Most of our work in this area involves financial regulation, but is strongly linked to/involving transactional work.
  • For further information, please reach out to Jack Hardman who leads the fintech practice in the UAE.

Islamic Finance

As a leader in the growing Islamic Finance field, we help devise and deliver financing solutions specific to the needs of our clients and which offer Islamic investors the opportunity to invest in accordance with the principles and values of Islam.

We are at the cutting edge of drafting and structuring Islamic hedging transactions and developing innovative structures that use traditional Islamic products, such as the murabaha, wa'ad, salam and arbun, to generate similar economic profiles to conventional derivatives but in a Shari'a compliant manner. We advise banks on Shari'a compliant structured products, including securities programmes.

Our capabilities, digital solutions, insights and research speak for themselves. And so do the results.

We use a range of specialised capabilities in the delivery of our legal services including expert project management and continuous improvement, specialist resourcing through our delivery centers, cutting edge legal technology and data science, and a dedicated research and development team who design and build digital solutions with and for our clients.
