Asia Pacific

It is not enough to have an expert understanding of law

Our clients seek commercial acumen; people who can bring their insight and imagination to complex problems. People who can act as trusted business advisers and deliver results. Our firm is built around seven global practice areas: Finance, Capital Markets, Corporate, Antitrust, Real Estate, in addition to Tax, Pensions, Employment & Incentives and Litigation, Dispute Resolution & Risk Management.

It is likely that our opportunities will be in the first four areas, because they are the largest practice areas for our firm in Asia Pacific. If you join the firm then, whatever your path may be, you will work on our global deals for our high-profile clients and within our collaborative culture. As an integral member of the team, you will also rapidly further develop your legal and business skills.

Global Financial Markets

The financial world constantly evolves. As new products, more complex financial systems and alternative providers of finance emerge, the need for legal expertise has never been greater – especially in this era of increased regulation. With offices in all the world's major financial centres, we are perfectly placed to help our clients shape the new financial landscape.

We advise banks, insurance companies, corporates, funds, governments, and regulatory authorities around the world on headline deals. It's not just about our commercial judgement. For us, it's about building relationships, sharing knowledge and helping clients meet international business challenges. Across Asia Pacific our teams cover areas such as capital markets, corporate finance, leveraged finance, real estate finance, restructuring and insolvency, derivatives and asset finance.

We have continued to cement our position working on market-leading transactions across all product types and all geographical areas spanning Europe, the US, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia.

Business has never been more global than it is today. The number of high-level, cross-border deals continues apace. Our clients look for advisers with a sophisticated blend of legal knowledge, business understanding and an international presence to help them navigate the world of corporate finance. This is our largest practice area, covering Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity, Private Fund Formation, Communications, Media & Technology, Financial Institutions, and Competition & Regulation.

Our clients include many of the world's leading companies, including more than half of the Fortune Global 500.

Litigation and Dispute Resolution & International Arbitration

We handle defamation claims, investigate regulatory issues, and conduct arbitrations to resolve international commercial disputes. It's complex work, often involving multiple claims and parties. We always start by helping clients avoid disputes and the associated risks. If we do take a dispute to arbitration, we regularly explore alternative forms of resolution.

Our challenge is to reach an efficient, effective solution that benefits all sides. Our work falls into three areas: Commercial Litigation, Regulatory Enforcement & White Collar, and International Arbitration. Working with other practice areas, these teams combine local capabilities with global expertise.

Innovation is action. Proven by what we do, not what we say. Putting evolution into evidence, in every facet of our work, every day.

Whether it's the way we work today and how we pave the way for future methods, or the new answers we bring to our clients.

Our capabilities, digital solutions, insights and research speak for themselves. And so do the results.

We use a range of specialised capabilities in the delivery of our legal services including expert project management and continuous improvement, specialist resourcing through our delivery centers, cutting edge legal technology and data science, and a dedicated research and development team who design and build digital solutions with and for our clients.

"I primarily helped manage the signing and closing process which involved coordinating multiple parties and time zones. Navigating the process can be challenging at times, but I was able to keep a checklist on the status of each document which helped keep track of the process. It was great to be able to discuss the transaction with Rafe Khokhar and Sarah Cheng and to gain an insight into this ground-breaking transaction. Even when it was very busy, the team always had time to answer any questions."

"This was an exciting cross-border deal and I really cherished the opportunity to work with our excellent deal team, including M&A, Capital Markets and Tax colleagues from Amsterdam, Paris, New York, Milan, Beijing and Shanghai.

Working on the transaction, I assisted our Shanghai team in leading and coordinating various functions and offices, reviewing and commenting on the transaction documents and completing the wall-crossing exercise. "Working on this transaction, I had the opportunity to work with a cross-border team of our technology and mergers and acquisitions experts from Sydney, New York, London and Singapore.
